We loved welcoming our DTSOI alumni back to campus to share their honest experiences about life after high school.
Hearing real college experiences from former Phoenix students made a big impact.

Congratulations to Vaughn Fields, a senior at DTSOI and the secretary of our National Honor Society chapter! Vaughn has been working with the city of Springdale to start an Adopt a Road program so that our NHS chapter can adopt Hylton Road in front of the school!

This exciting project will allow chapter members to participate in a street clean-up twice a year, helping keep our community clean and beautiful. We are so proud of Vaughn’s leadership and dedication to service!

VFW Voice of Democracy (9 - 12 grade)

This week, DTSOI students explored the rich histories and vibrant traditions of Native American cultures. We were honored to welcome guest speakers, Kailee Stoneberger and Tiffany Deerinwater who shared their stories and perspectives, giving our students a meaningful connection to the voices of Indigenous communities.

In the library, students also participated in a fun “speed dating” activity featuring books by Native American authors, helping them discover new stories, new characters, and new ways to understand the world.

Students also had the opportunity to learn the Aztec legend of how the sun and moon were created with Ms. Hoke. They used warm and cool colors to design their own artistic interpretations. The creativity was incredible!

Mrs. Strickland helped students study traditional Native American names and their meanings, deepening students’ appreciation for the beauty and significance behind them.

Another highlight of the week was practicing weaving through a virtual lesson provided by the Shiloh Museum! Ms. Weiner and Ms.Anderson's students loved the hands-on activity and exploring this important cultural art form.

We’re grateful for the learning, reflection, and celebration throughout our school this week. ❤️
