Testing season is upon us and we want to celebrate our amazing students with a CELEBRATION on Friday, May 16th. We want to be able to give away a bike to a student in each grade level. Congratulations! John Tyson Elementary has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school as a school that is Beating the Odds, because students demonstrated high ELA growth on the ATLAS exams (4th in the Northwest region) even though the school serves a high percentage of students who participate in Free and Reduced Lunch!
As you may know, the OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards where we recognize schools with high student academic growth. We think growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that your school is having on students.
We are so proud of our school! We appreciate our parents, students, staff, teachers, and community partners in helping our students learn and grow at high levels. Go Tigers!!!
JTE is excited to offer UAMS parenting classes here at school Wednesday mornings March 19th- May 21st from 8:00-9:30. In order to build a solid connection between home and school, Tyson strives to create a parent engagement plan with the family as the main component. We will be meeting on Tuesday, March 10th at 6:00 PM to review the plan and hear your feedback. If you are unable to attend and would like to give feedback, please review the newsletter below, which has the plan attached. You can then complete the Google form with any comments or questions you might have after your review.
