Both our Wrangler Boys and Girls soccer teams will play for their respective Championships next Friday, May 3rd at Har-Ber High School. The boys will take on SWJH at 6 pm followed by the girls who will take on LJHS at 7:15 pm. Four George Junior High School students, Camila Torres, Bryan Palma, Vanesa Romero, and Elisabeth Price, DOMINATED in the kitchen this past Saturday at the UAMS Junior Master Chef competition. The professionalism, the team work, the problem solving - Mrs. Fortenberry was blown away by these 4 chefs! 2nd place in competition, but the hard work and dedication these 4 showed over the past several weeks makes them #1 in our book! Today is National School Librarian Day and we want to celebrate and recognize Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Delgado for all they do! Usually when you think of the library, you think of a place that houses lots and lots of books, but our librarians make it so much more. They convert our library to a cool escape room, have scavenger hunts, or some other amazing project. They make it a fun, exciting, innovative space for our students to be creative and think outside of the box...and books! They create a whole culture of learning and fun for both our students and our staff! We are so appreciative of everything they do! #DestinationGeorge

All 7 of Mrs. Fortenberry's FCS classes and Mrs. Eagle's Survey of Business, Intro to Business & Marketing, and Career Development classes from GJHS were able to travel to Sam's Furniture in Springdale, Arkansas. Sam's Furniture was founded by Sam Donaldson, who was an entrepreneur with only an 8th grade education. Joe and Larra Donaldson talked to the classes about setting goals today for their future, including career opportunities based on individual interests. This field trip supports FCS standards of how transferable skills contribute to a good work ethic, the importance of professionalism in the workplace, and appropriate job skills and personal qualifications for careers relating to Family and Consumer Sciences. Additional standards addressed were: Survey of Business - 1.4: Analyze the six career clusters from which business and marketing programs of study are developed. Career Development - 1.3: Evaluate Appropriate Work Behavior and 5.1 Identify Employability Skills. Intro to Business & Marketing - 1.2 Develop personal traits for success and 6.0 Describe the underlying ideas of business marketing.
