Berry Recognized as EAST Leader

The Education Accelerated by Service and Technology Board of Directors honored Brittany Berry as a Matt Dozier EAST Legacy Award recipient.

“I was shocked and honored. Honored to follow Jeanne and to have been nominated by my peers,” Berry said. “Shocked because our whole community of facilitators is an amazingly talented, sharing and hardworking group.”

Facilitators nominate peers who are leaders within the facilitator community and outstanding in their classrooms for the award. The recognition was first granted in 2022 to Jeanne Roepcke, a long-term facilitator in Batesville who lost a battle with cancer. The award is named for Matt Dozier, a long-term CEO of EAST, who began as facilitator.

The Helen Tyson Middle School EAST facilitator said she’s appreciative of her time in the role.

“I am grateful for my 10, going on 11, years in EAST and for the opportunities it has given me to grow students, serve my school, the greater community and to help other educators in doing the same work,” Berry said.

EAST inspires change and transforms schools and communities by empowering people through technology and encouraging critical thinking and creative problem-solving by engaging students in positive, real-world experiences. The program advocates lifelong learning and community service. Through EAST, participants become positive agents of change to improve the world around them.
