Springdale Public School has named Katherine “Katie” Wilson as the next principal of Parson Hills Elementary School.
She replaces Heather Cooper, who is retiring at the end of the 2025 school year.
“It is a deep honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Parson Hills,” Wilson said. “Springdale is home for our family. All three of our children attended elementary school here, and it’s a joy to continue investing in the district that has shaped our lives.”
"Mrs. Wilson brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for student success. Known for her exceptional leadership and communication skills, she is a strong advocate for high-quality instruction and student-centered learning," said Springdale Schools Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland. "Her diverse background in instructional practices and dedication to continuous improvement make her a valuable addition to our school community."
Wilson brings over 19 years of experience in education to Parson Hills, including 18 years in Springdale Schools, where she has served as a math teacher, an instructional facilitator, a district instructional specialist and, most recently, as the Walker Elementary School assistant principal.
During her time at Walker, the school was recognized in the top 5% statewide for student academic growth, and Wilson was named a Trailblazer Award Nominee by the Office of Innovation for Education for her leadership and innovation.
Wilson is known for her collaborative leadership style, her commitment to instructional excellence and her deep care for people. Whether supporting teachers, working with families, or building systems that help students thrive, she brings clarity, compassion, and purpose to her work.
She is a proud graduate of Springdale Schools and holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics with a TESOL Endorsement from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Science in Educational Theory and Practice, National Board Certification and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
The educator and her husband, Josh, have been married for 19 years and have three children, Caleb, Emma and Ezra. She enjoys reading, learning and serving at her local church.
“I want to thank Dr. Jared Cleveland, Dr. Marcia Smith, Shannon Tisher, Melissa Fink, Kendra Clay and the entire Springdale leadership team and School Board for entrusting me with this opportunity,” Wilson said. “I’m eager to serve and lead with purpose and to partner with the Parson Hills community to help every student and teacher thrive.”
