The Springdale Public Schools Communications team earned nine 2025 National School Public Relations Awards for digital media and marketing excellence.
Each year, NSPRA recognizes and honors those whose efforts and expertise have had a positive and lasting impact on school public relations and education, as well as honors the best work in school communication. In addition, NSPRA also recognizes chapters of all sizes for their outstanding efforts.

"Hero Harp Staff Member Saves Pupil," Writing Award of Excellence

Andrew Brownfield downplays his role as an instructional assistant at Harp Elementary School, yet his presence in the school cafeteria April 5 may have saved first-grader Holland Voss’ life.
“I appreciate the opportunity to be recognized, but I am just glad that I could help,” Brownfield said April 26 following the school’s monthly award ceremony.
Holland and Brownfield reflected on the incident that introduced the two for the first time.

"Unique Student Eclipse Experience," Writing Award of Excellence

Seven visually impaired Springdale Public Schools students experienced the historic April 8 total solar eclipse in Morrilton at an event featuring NASA representative Denna Lambert.
Lambert, who is blind, is the lead for NASA’s Early Stage Innovations and Partnerships program. Originally from Little Rock, she’s been at the forefront of advocating for inclusivity in space exploration and technology.
“She is an innovator and has broke so many glass ceilings,” said Christi Dixon, Arkansas Chapter Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired board member.

"Total Eclipse Movie Poster," Marketing Award of Excellence
"Total Eclipse: A Visually Impaired Experience" is a mini-documentary produced by the Springdale School District Communications office. It follows seven visually impaired Springdale Public Schools students' journey to Morrilton, Ark., on April 8, 2024 to experience the 2024 total eclipse.

Cafecito + Charla con Maribel is a free weekly video program that produces informative and educational videos for families and students in Spanish. Cafecito + Charla, Coffee and Chat with Maribel in English, was established in 2021 with the mission of strengthening the connection between schools, families and the community. Cafecito + Charla is hosted, produced and directed by Springdale Public Schools Communications staff member Maribel Tapia, who draws her inspiration and passion for equity in education from her immigrant parents and her personal experiences as a first-generation English language learner.
