"I am thrilled to be stepping into a new leadership position at Southwest," Clay said. "I want to thank Dr. Gladden, Mrs. Johnson, and Mr. Terrell for allowing me the opportunity to learn from them over the past three years. I cannot think of a better place than Southwest to start this new journey. Our students, staff, and families truly make our school an incredible place to serve. I am looking forward to supporting our school in new ways as the Assistant Principal. I also want to thank Dr. Cleveland and the district leadership team for their support and belief in me to be able to serve in this role."

Clay is transitioning from an instructional facilitator at Southwest Junior High School, where she served for 3 years. She has 9 years of experience in education at Springdale Public Schools. For the first 6 years of her career, she taught 5th Grade at Walker Elementary.

Clay said she hopes to strengthen a culture where everyone feels a sense of agency, ownership, and belief in their ability to achieve.

"In this new role, I want to help create systems where data is used as a tool to empower teachers and students, identify strengths, and respond to needs with purpose. I believe meaningful growth starts with strong relationships, and I am excited to continue collaborating with the incredible teachers at Southwest," Clay said.

Clay holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas, Endorsements in STEM education and English as a Second Language from the University of Arkansas, and a Special Education endorsement from Harding University. She is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Principalship from Arkansas State University.

Clay said that in her free time, she loves to read, be outdoors, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
