mjordan2@sdale.orgSpringdale Public Schools celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the district’s new Industrial Arts Annex Nov. 20.

Opening the annex at 100 S. Thompson St. demonstrates the district's commitment to career-ready technical training and advanced scientific education.

The annex grand opening and ribbon cutting were featured in conjunction with the Springdale Chamber of Commerce Morning Brew.

The new facility spans 17,528 square feet and operates on a hub-and-spoke model, transporting approximately 200 high school students per day into a central facility for rigorous, concentrated training in mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades.

The significant remodel was approximately $3.5 million and furthers the district’s initiatives toward layering concurrent college credit, youth apprenticeships and industry-recognized credentials into Springdale student career pathways.

Industry Partners who are contributing significantly to the initiative by donating used equipment, materials and guest-instructor time include NWA SteelMiddleton PlumbingKeytronix and Tyson Foods.

These organizations are helping to ensure students are exposed to the real tools and codes used in licensed trades.
