Springdale Public Schools has named Amy Harrison as the K-12 Pathways director with the district administrative office.
“I feel incredibly honored that the board, Dr. Cleveland, Mrs. Tisher, Mrs. Fink and Mrs. Clay believe I am the right person to serve as the director of K-12 Pathways for the district,” Harrison said. “I have been blessed to be a part of Springdale Schools, not only as a graduate, but also as an educator. There is no place else I would rather serve.”
Harrison is transitioning to the position after serving for three years as the Don Tyson School of Innovation principal. She’s worked as an educator for 13 years, having previously served DTSOI’s assistant principal for six years. Before that, Harrison was the virtual coordinator at DTSOI, taught business classes at Central Junior High School and served as the Lakeside Junior High School business teacher and cheer and dance coach.
"Amy Harrison is a visionary educational leader whose proven track record makes her the ideal choice to spearhead our K-12 pathways initiatives,” said Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland. “Throughout her distinguished career, particularly during her impactful tenure as principal and assistant principal at the Don Tyson School of Innovation, Amy has consistently demonstrated an unmatched ability to build robust academic frameworks that link classroom learning to future-ready careers.”
Harrison said her enthusiasm for education is inspired by those who helped her grow.
“My passion for education comes from the many Springdale educators who have made a lasting impact on my life and career, including my mom, who dedicated 40 years to teaching in Springdale Schools,” Harrison said. “Their influence inspired my commitment to supporting students, families, and educators while helping continue the strong tradition of excellence in our district.”
The educator holds a bachelor’s in education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, as well as a master’s in educational leadership from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
Harrison said she’s passionate about supporting students, families and educators, and looks forward to making a positive impact on a district-wide level for Springdale Schools.
“One of the things I value most about Springdale is the vast array of opportunities available to students, and I am eager to help families and staff navigate the ever-changing landscape of public education while ensuring students are connected to the pathways and resources that best support their future success,” she said.
Harrison and her husband, Marty, are lifelong residents of Springdale and are proud to be raising their family in the community that has given so much to them.
“Our daughter, Gwyneth, will be a seventh grader at Hellstern Middle School next year, and our son, Colin, will be a sixth grader there as well,” she said. “In our free time, you can usually find us cheering on our kids from the bleachers or at a dance competition.”
