Springdale Public Schools has named Aurelian Sennett as the incoming principal of Lakeside Junior High School.
“I feel honored to serve the students and staff at Lakeside Junior High,” Sennett said. “Lakeside has a storied tradition of excellence, including being a model PLC school, and I am excited to collaborate with our dedicated educators and community to build upon this strong foundation and inspire our students to reach their full potential.”
Sennett is transitioning from Hellstern Middle School, where he served as Assistant Principal last year. He also served as an instructional facilitator for one year and then an assistant principal for six years at Don Tyson School of Innovation,. He’s worked more than 12 years as an educator, eight of which with Springdale Public Schools.
“We are incredibly proud to name Mr. Aurelian Sennett as the new principal of Lakeside Junior High,” said Dr. Jared Cleveland, Springdale Public Schools superintendent. “His deep expertise in instructional design and academic standards makes him the perfect leader to guide the school forward. I am confident his passion for student achievement will build beautifully on Lakeside's tradition of excellence.”
Sennett said he hopes to build on the strong foundation and positive momentum already established by the Lakeside Junior High team.
"My goal is to build on the excellence already established at Lakeside Junior High," Sennett said. "I recognize the excellent work being done here, and I want to sustain that collaborative culture."
Sennett holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Science in Plant, Insect and Microbial Sciences and a Master of Education in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum from the University of Missouri, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership – Principalship from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
Sennett said he’s thankful for the opportunity to serve as Principal.
“I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Cleveland and our Springdale School District leadership team for this honor and privilege,” he said. “I would also like to say thank you to Karen Johnson and her team at Hellstern for always being so supportive."
Sennett said family time is a valued part of his free time, noting his wife and two sons are the most incredible and supportive family anyone could ask for.
“I am very proud of my wife, Crystal, she is one of twelve certified pediatric physical therapists in the State of Arkansas. We are a very child centric family,” he said. “I also have a wonderful and close group of friends that happen to live right down the street. Our children play together in our front yards as we enjoy Northwest Arkansas sunsets.”
