Springdale Public Schools has named Joel Lookadoo as the incoming assistant principal of Don Tyson School of Innovation.
"I am thankful to Dr. Cleveland, Mrs. Tisher, Mrs. Fink, Mrs. Clay, and Dr. Shepherd for the opportunity to join the DTSOI team," Lookadoo said. "There are many exciting things happening at DTSOI in developing the vision of what education can become. I feel honored to get to be a part of the great work."
Lookadoo is transitioning to Don Tyson SOI after being assistant principal of Lakeside Jr. High for the past 5 years. He has been in education for 13 years and has served at Lakeside Junior High as a math teacher and basketball coach, 1 year at Don Tyson SOI as an Instructional Facilitator, and 1 year with the state as Arkansas Teacher of the Year.
“We are proud to see Mr. Joel Lookadoo step into this leadership role at the Don Tyson School of Innovation,” said Dr. Jared Cleveland, Springdale Public Schools superintendent. “Having previously served as an instructional facilitator at the school, Joel already understands the unique mission of the campus. He is a deeply kind leader who genuinely cares about every single student. His heart is for the entire district, and because the Don Tyson School of Innovation serves students from all across Springdale, he is uniquely positioned to help expand its programs and offer even greater choices and opportunities for all families.”
"I am excited to build strong relationships with the staff, students, and families at DTSOI, which is known for giving students creative opportunities to grow and generating pathways to discover their passions," Lookadoo said.
Lookadoo is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education and earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
"Joel Lookadoo is one of the finest people and educators that I have ever worked with," said Dr. Michael Shepherd, Principal of Don Tyson School of Innovation. "I am so thrilled that he will be joining our team at DTSOI. He is a master at both instructional leadership and building management. I’m honored to continue our work together at DTSOI."
Lookadoo is proud to be a part of the Springdale Family.
“My family is deeply rooted in the Springdale community,” Lookadoo said. “My wife, Chantelle, teaches second grade at J.B. Hunt Elementary, and our two daughters, Chloe and Harper, are proud students right here in the Springdale School District.”
