On Friday October 21st, students from across Northwest Arkansas came together to celebrate White Cane Awareness Day. White Cane Awareness Day is a national observance that is celebrated annually on October 15th. This date is set aside to celebrate achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and a tool of independence, the white cane. Students in Northwest Arkansas were superheros for the day and participated in a variety of activities that were all themed. Students were able to participate in tandem bike riding, slime making, exploring a police car and completed an obstacle course.

Jessica Saum, Arkansas 2022 Teacher of the Year, and Kathy McFetridge, State Board of Education member, spent time learning about the Har-Ber Aviation program today. Jason McMullen, aviation teacher, and HBHS students shared a program overview for the visitors. #SpringdaleFamily

Walmart and Kellogg’s today presented the Don Tyson School of Innovation cross-country and track programs with a $25,000 grant! The grant may be used to create a running path for students so they don’t have to training along Hylton Road and Don Tyson Parkway. #SpringdaleFamily

Springdale Schools interviewed five Don Tyson School of Innovation students today for paid instructional assistant intern positions in our elementary schools. The students had to apply, create a resume and participate in an interview with a panel of principals. #SpringdaleFamily

The Springdale Police Department partnered with UAMS today to help families properly install car seats at the Treehouse Pantry. 50 car seats were donated as part of the Buckle Up for Life event sponsored by Toyota and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. #SpringdaleFamily
